Kaleidoscope Kids

Hi!

This page is dedicated to posts about my kids, for my kids, by my kids....you get it. They are my heart and soul and inspire me every day.

Live your best Kaleidoscope Life,

Kaleidoscope Kids G3

I wrote all three of my children a poem when I was pregnant with each. Actually, they are more like songs…as the melodies just came to me and I sang to my children all the time as they were growing inside my womb. (So if any of you are musicians, let me know – I have the beat but need someone to help me put it all together!) Many of you have asked me to share their “birth poems,” as I mentioned them in my very first post. So here goes – in chronological order.

A little background first – one of the many joys of new moms is downloading the What to Expect app or something similar and getting the weekly updates of what size fruit or vegetable your little one is in any particular week. So, needless to say, for my firstborn, when my husband and I found out I was pregnant and that our lil’ bean was the size of a blueberry, that’s what we called him until the day he was born. Actually, for all three of our kids, we did not name them until the day they were born (of course we had some ideas of names in mind).

For my second born, when we found out I was pregnant, he was the size of a poppy seed. We were obviously trying, so I was testing like crazy!

Our third child was our “rainbow” baby after two miscarriages (one at ten weeks who we called “Yoki” and the other very early, who for just a week we called “Rainbow”), so my poem for my earthly daughter is not named after food, but instead, a rainbow, and is dedicated also to my two angels in Heaven.

‘Til this day, I still call my boys Blueberry and Poppy…and, since they caught on, being 5 and 3 years old when Evie was born, they decided to call her Carrot…and that nickname’s kinda stuck too!

Blueberry Bliss

Hey Little One
Whatcha gonna be?
A precious child
For our family...

A boy our girl
Who's gonna change our world
With your button nose
And your itty bitty toes

Oooo Little One
All the joy you'll bring
This is Momma's voice -
Can you hear me sing?

About

Blueberry Bliss
I cannot wait to kiss -
Your shining face
Blessed with God's loving grace...

Hold your tiny hands
Tickle your teeny feet
See the color of your eyes
And smell your skin so sweet

My Little One
A gift beyond compare
From Heaven up above
A treasure oh so rare...

I promise to protect,
Guide you and respect -
I will leave you never
And love you forever

CHORUS

Poppy Seed

Poppy seed
Inside my tummy
I just know
You're gonna be so yummy
With your skin so soft
And your smell so sweet
You're tiny hands
And your teeny feet
Oh I can't wait to hold you, Dear
Pick you up
And draw you near
~ Oooooo ahhhhh ~ to me

So I can
Hold you and love you and watch you grow
Hug you and kiss you and cherish you so
You know
You are the world to me

Poppy seed
My bundle of joy
My precious, handsome, baby boy
You light up my life
You're my everything
Sugar and spice
My whole Being
You are
God's greatest gift to me

Ill always
Protect you and help you
And challenge you too
Respect you and guide you
With all you set out to do
Because
You are the world to me

Rainbow

The miracle of Life
Inside of me
Precious child
You were meant to be.

I’ve wanted you so badly
Needed you in my life
You’re God’s saving Grace
To a husband and wife -

See, we’ve suffered loss
There’s pain that we harbor
But You are our Rainbow
Miracle daughter

Blessed Child
Innocent Soul
A piece of the puzzle
That makes our Family whole

So now I promise –

When you call
If you fall
And you need someone

When you’re sad
Or you’re mad
And you feel alone

Through your tears
And your fears,
I will hold your hand

Your beliefs
And your dreams
We will take a stand

All your smiles
And your joys
I believe in you

I’ll help you grow
Love you so
And have faith in you

You were handpicked by God
For our family
And we promise to love you
For all eternity.

We will respect you
And we always will love
Our Savior, Our Lord’s
Gift from above

The face of an angel
Guided by the Saints
Our Blessed Mother
Will protect you always.

Your brothers adore you
You’re Daddy’s little girl
To me, your momma,
You all are my world.

So now I promise –

CHORUS

The miracle of life
Began with a prayer
To Our Heavenly Father
Who's always been there
