Hi! This page is dedicated to posts about my kids, for my kids, by my kids....you get it. They are my heart and soul and inspire me every day. Live your best Kaleidoscope Life, Kaleidoscope Kids G3
I wrote all three of my children a poem when I was pregnant with each. Actually, they are more like songs…as the melodies just came to me and I sang to my children all the time as they were growing inside my womb. (So if any of you are musicians, let me know – I have the beat but need someone to help me put it all together!) Many of you have asked me to share their “birth poems,” as I mentioned them in my very first post. So here goes – in chronological order.
A little background first – one of the many joys of new moms is downloading the What to Expect app or something similar and getting the weekly updates of what size fruit or vegetable your little one is in any particular week. So, needless to say, for my firstborn, when my husband and I found out I was pregnant and that our lil’ bean was the size of a blueberry, that’s what we called him until the day he was born. Actually, for all three of our kids, we did not name them until the day they were born (of course we had some ideas of names in mind).
For my second born, when we found out I was pregnant, he was the size of a poppy seed. We were obviously trying, so I was testing like crazy!
Our third child was our “rainbow” baby after two miscarriages (one at ten weeks who we called “Yoki” and the other very early, who for just a week we called “Rainbow”), so my poem for my earthly daughter is not named after food, but instead, a rainbow, and is dedicated also to my two angels in Heaven.
‘Til this day, I still call my boys Blueberry and Poppy…and, since they caught on, being 5 and 3 years old when Evie was born, they decided to call her Carrot…and that nickname’s kinda stuck too!
